Set the Record Straight on some dangerous lies my opponent's special interest group, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the Ohio Democratic Party (ODP) have been mailing to your homes and broadcasting on television. Every statement they make regarding Emergency Medical Services (EMS), with no exception, is false. Here are the true facts:
THERE IS NO TAX ON EMS SERVICES
YOU WILL NEVER BE BILLED FOR EMS SERVICE
PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL 911
I deeply regret the fact that my opponent and her surrogates have chosen to frighten seniors, parents and our hard working neighbors, many that depend on EMS services in life or death situations. The 'raising taxes' lie is bad enough, but to put our residents at risk for personal political gain is unconscionable.
The most disturbing lie is the SEIU and ODP statement that the city of Westlake taxes residents $450.00 for the Emergency Medical Service. That is absolutely false. As with all west shore communities such as Bay Village, Rocky River, North Olmsted and Fairview Park, insurance companies are billed for this service. If this service is not included in the insurance policy, the expense is paid in full by the city as before.
Under no circumstance is a resident ever billed for EMS services. The city of Westlake, along with the other west shore cities, have saved hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars by billing insurance companies and Westlake reinvests this savings back into the fire department for needed EMS equipment and training to save lives.
I have taken action in an attempt to repair the damage that has been caused by my opponent and her special interest group. You can also call Westlake city hall (440) 871-3300 and ask for Fire Chief Ron Janicek, Mayor Dennis Clough or Finance Director, Anne Fritz. They will verify that the above is absolutely true.
My request to you, is if you have a loved one or neighbor that is concerned or confused about the true facts of this issue please contact me personally and I will contact them directly to assure them they will NEVER be billed for EMS service.
